HIM Outpatient Coding Supervisor

Position Summary
Responsible for daily operations of the outpatient diagnostic of the outpatient diagnostic and ancillary coding team. Directly supervises team members and performance management.
Promotes accurate, efficient and compliant coding practices that support the organization's objectives and goals.
Develops individual staff and team goals.
Identifies process improvements and assists with development of action plans as opportunities are identified.
Job Requirements
Bachelor or Associate degree in health information or related area required.
Certification as a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) required. Will consider candidate who is eligible and will obtain certification within six (6) months of hire.
One year's experience in HIM or related functions required; two years' experience preferred. One year's supervisory experience preferred.
One year's experience in customer service relations preferred.
Demonstrated knowledge of computer systems and applications required. Demonstrated effective team building skills.
Must be able to move about hospital and between workstations and prolong periods of standing.
Must be able to understand directions and be able to communicate and respond to inquiries; requires interpersonal skills.
Must be able to travel between various hospitals and/or locations throughout ProMedica.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
